About Gray Whale Swim School

Gray Whale Swim School is named in honor of Miss Amber's son, Gunnar Gray, whose obsession for water was evident in every aspect of life. He had a zest for life that warmed the hearts of those around him. Gunnar loved his swim days with his friends so much, and he would want them to keep learning and swimming with his mom.

About Miss Amber

After running a successful swim school in California for 9 years Miss Amber sold it as of Jan. 2022 and has begun again here in Round Rock. Miss Amber has been teaching since 2005 and has worked for many different swim schools before starting her own back in 2013. Her lessons are next level compared to the large box swim schools in the area. Water safety is her primary focus.

Our story

Swim lessons are only the first line of defense when talking about water safety. You should always have your eyes on your kids when in water situations. If you own a pool there should be a locking fence around your pool, locked doors of your house, and/or a pool cover that is able to be walked on. It only takes a minute or two for a child to get into serious trouble.

Pricing and Location

Miss Amber will come to your pool.

Most lessons are 30 minutes long and cost $40, some children 5 or older can handle an hour
lesson. It is suggested that kids swim twice a week if the schedule allows and we ask that you
get in with your kids and practice the same skills outside of lessons. All lessons are one on one.

Gray Whale Swim School

Miss Amber believes that swim lessons are more than just swim lessons. They should be life lessons. Teaching limits, respect, confidence, compassion, and life saving skills that may one day impact your family. Those that are comfortable in the water are more confident in all aspects of life. Many parents ask Miss Amber when is the right age to start. Now is always the
right time to build confidence, respect, safety and love for the water. She started her son at 2 months old and this built an infatuation with the water yet he knew his limits even though he was under 18 months.

Exposing your child to how water works at a fundamental level before expecting to “Learn how to swim”. For this reason we do not recommend life vests, puddle jumpers, water wings, or floating body suits. These devices give the children false confidence and causes them to misunderstand how water works. This will lead to a child making poor, uninformed
choices in the water.
